RULE ALREADY IN PLACE IN AUSTRALIA’S NRL NOW COMING TO SUPER LEAGUE

“I’m a fan of the Golden Point. I think that I guess if you asked 100 people there would be a 50/50 split of those that are happy to see a draw and feel that to walk away with one point is better than none.

“The difficult thing in Australia and the challenge for Golden Point there is the refereeing.

“The fact they’ve not been willing to blow their whistle in Golden Point and on the odd occasion they do, people say it was a tough call and the wrong call, so it’s a bit of a no-win situation for the referees.

“But that’s the only downside of Golden Point that I could see.

“We had a meeting the other night with the RFL and they’ve assured us the referees have been instructed to referee through Golden Point the same as they’ve refereed the first 80 minutes. But I think as long as the “A new rule coming into the Super League or the NRL is always a struggle at the start, but I think players get to train for it.

“I think that the boys will love it and I think Super League will like it as well.

“I think Super League will be better for it and it will be bigger and better “I think it’s a better to have it where previously a draw was a draw. I think it’s good to get a result.

“We’ve had it in Australia for a few years now, I think it’s good for the fans and players to know you’re going to get a result every time you play so, yeah, it’s another exciting part of this year and hopefully it will be exciting.” Golden Point games are usually decided by a drop-goal, so would Uate and Frawley be confident in having a go at a drop kick to claim a win? Frawley was very keen, saying “Yeah, I would be. There’s some good kickers here at the Giants, some of the boys have got good boots but, yeah, if it comes my way I’ll have a crack.”

Uate, however, looked a little more sheepish when asked, but said: “Yeah, definitely. Why not?”
