Derby fundraiser for YM’s groundsman

-

HUDDERSFIELD RUFC will face Huddersfield YMCA in a charity festive fixture on Saturday, December 29 at Lockwood Park (2pm).

The game will be played between teams of over 35s from both clubs.

The Huddersfield team will be captained by Richard Baxter and will include ex-First XV players Tim Taylor, Gavin Rhodes, Chris Duffy, Steve Lynch, Howard Hanks and Chris Evans. The game will be raising funds for YM groundsman Andy Kelly, who has had an extremely difficult year. Earlier this started playing in the Under-14s and played through the age groups and colts and into senior rugby. Andy then got involved in the coaching of age grade teams and helping to develop the YM Roses Girls XV.

Andy is working hard in hospital on rehabilitation exercises, but he is currently in a wheelchair. It is hoped he will be allowed home soon but no date has been set and it is obviously going to be a long haul.

The game will be free entry, however, the YM Roses will be going round with bucket collections and a raffle with all proceeds going to Andy. There will also be a one course lunch served at 12.30pm. The lunch of homemade steak and kidney pie with twice cooked chips and mushy peas, will cost £8 per head and the profits from the meal will go to

Andy.
