Queues on the M62 yesterday morning after failure of so-called ‘smart motorway’

Should have just made more lanes ... the speed limits change between each camera. I have gone from 40 to 60 back to 40 then 50 in the space of a few meters an absolute joke ... money making scam and the motorway is more dangerous because of it.

If it was operated properly it might be smart? But the number of times the speed limits are set low for no apparent reason in off peak times leads to confusion and ultimately accidents.

It seems to work in other places! Mainly it’s drivers that cause accidents. If used correctly smart motorways work very well.

M62 smart motorway system failure? Again?

There’s a surprise. They might work on other roads (although I doubt it), but it certainly doesn’t on the M62. I found it was less congested when they had the average speed cameras/were building the smart stuff/extra lanes (and always funny counting the idiots who don’t know what average speed means).
