SOCIAL media star Tish Simmonds has made a Christmas single but it’s unlikely to grace the charts.

The 22-year-old, who is something of an online celebrity, came up with the simple lyric ‘ Merry Tishmas’ and friends did the rest.

On Sunday, Tish was in the town centre dressed as an elf to create a music video for the song.

Tish, of Skelmanthorpe, says she still enjoys creating amusing content for various media sites including Facebook, YouTube and TikTok.

She said: “I do comedy sketches and that kind of stuff. I really enjoy it.”

She has tens of thousands of followers on social media but there are still ‘haters’ who post nasty comments.

“I do get comments from people and hate. If you do something nice, you still get hate.”

She first shot to fame aged 18 when she posted a clip on video app Vine telling the camera : “I’m in me mum’s car - broom, broom.”

Darren Luckin, who shot the music video and also dressed up as Santa to hand out sweets to passers-by, said the hateful comments stemmed from jealousy.

He said: “They have got no life and have got to pick on someone.”

Darren, who creates comedy video as Dazza T V, said the song would be published online but it was a bit too close to Christmas for it to go on iTunes.

Joshua Martin, also from Huddersfield and who goes by the name DJScousetrap, came up with some rap lyrics for the song.

Money raised from the charity single will go to Derby-based Sand, Sun and Special Needs (SSSN), a group of caravan owners who provide free holiday breaks for families.

Michael Ryan, who set up SSSN and helped out with the video shoot, said: “I have brought a PA system and I might do some dancing but I’m fat and old and can’t do it.”

He added: “We help families with terminally ill children create special memories.”
