Yorkshire duo sign new deals

WICKETKEEPER Jonny Tattersall and batsman Harry Brook have signed new deals with Yorkshire.

Tattersall, 24, penned a provisional one-year extension for 2019 midway though last season, but has now put pen-topaper on a deal which will keep him at Emerald Headingley until the end of 2021.

Brook, meanwhile, had a breakthrough campaign this summer and the 19-year-old has now signed a two year extension taking him to 2021.

“It takes a lot off your shoulders and you can go out and work hard through the winter without worrying about whether or not you’re out of contract at the end of the following season,” said Tattersall, who was released by the club in 2015 but re-signed earlier this year.

“Last season was brilliant and, hopefully, I can now push on. Three years is a good period of time to have at the club and hopefully I can help the county win some games of cricket.”

A product of the Burley-inWharfedale club, and Sedbergh School, Brook has been involved with the club since making his Under-13s debut in 2012.

“It’s a huge honour to be playing at one of the biggest clubs in the world,” he said. “To make it another three years is brilliant and having that security will enable me to go out and express myself on the field.

“It has been quality and every minute of it has been so good. Being around the senior players, learning as much as possible and just trying to play the best cricket I can at this moment in time. It has been brilliant.

“I’m looking forward to more of the same in the future.”
