Frustrated fans put a new striker on their wishlist

HUDDERSFIELD TOWN fans are craving new signings in the January transfer window after the worrying loss to Newcastle United.

Supporters are generally very frustrated with the lack of goals and are hoping head coach David Wagner and chairman Dean Hoyle will act in the January transfer window to try and rectify the problem.

Many also feel Town are going to struggle to stay up unless they import some extra quality, especially with Aaron Mooy, Danny Willliams, Tommy Smith and Abdelhamid Sabiri sidelined long-term.

Richard, from Kirkburton, has some sympathy with the situation.

“What on earth have we to do to score a goal and win a game?” he questioned.

“This was smash and grab by Newcastle and we should have had the three points.

“Billing was very good and I was impressed by Bacuna, who showed real promise.

“However, the lack of a goalscorer is hurting us. Town are playing excellent football and don’t look out of place in the Premier League except for the goals for and the points that our play has deserved.”

John Marsh, in

Pontefract, is less forgiving.

“Same old story, all effort, but clueless in the final third,” he said.

“The midfield are far too slow to support in attack and I think it’s time for some new ideas from somewhere.

“I’m not confident about our prospects for survival on this evidence.”

Bryan, who follows from

Slaithwaite, feels quality signings are imperative.

“It doesn’t help to have key players missing, and to be without Mooy for a couple of months is nothing short of a disaster, with Williams now out of the picture,” he remarked.

“Having said that, this was a game we should have had wrapped up in the first half. Newcastle lost possession or gave us the ball in dangerous positions on countless occasions, but, guess what, we couldn’t capitalise.

“We give the ball away, a la Bournemouth, and we get punished. Once again, massive stats advantage, and nothing to show for it.

“Please DH & DW, find a couple of players in January to give us a chance of survival, otherwise, I can’t see us scraping through this time.”

Stephen, based in Spain but a keen fan, also wants to spice things up.

“This game showed Town’s attack is not good enough. No pace or movement,” he ventured.

“Midfield now also needs bolstering, maybe getting a decent midfield player in on loan - Drinkwater or maybe Loftus-Cheek.

“We need quality sooner rather than later as we are getting further behind other clubs near the bottom.”

David, in Huddersfield, said: “Poor showing and heads are starting to drop.

“Takes us too long to get the ball forward and nobody wants to take responsibility and shoot.”

Kirkburton-based Robert feels Town are too predictable.

“Plenty of possession, effort, and good build-up play but no cutting edge,” he said.

“At least Town are still in touch of safety, but a proven striker must be bought if we are to have any chance of survival.”

Allan from Liversedge feels a fresh approach could come from within the club.

“A poor display against a similarly poor Newcastle side,” he said.

“Teams allow us to have possession as they know we cannot hurt them in the final third.

“LDP had a shocker and I would think about putting Kachunga or Mbenza up front as they are more likely to do something for us.”
