Bacuna settled in more than one new role

-

NEW dad Juninho Bacuna has important new roles - on and off the field.

The Dutch Under 21 international, who recently became a father for the first time, has been asked to replace Town’s injured midfield playmaker Aaron Mooy.

Bacuna, 21, made his first Premier League start in the 1-0 defeat against Newcastle at the John Smith’s Stadium.

On the big changes in his life, Bacuna said: “I sleep a lot, the baby sleeps from 12.30 until 6-7 o’clock, so it’s quite OK.

“It was a big step for me to be a dad, a new country, a new club, everything is new for me.”

Bacuna slotted into the centre of Town’s midfield, making his first top flight start alongside Jonathan Hogg and Philip Billing.

He revealed that boss David Wagner asked him to do a similar job to currently-injured Mooy. Bacuna said his orders were simple.

“He said to do the role like Aaron Mooy, play football, help the team be aggressive and to just do my thing,” explained Bacuna. “It is not easy but I think I did quite a good job. I like to play football, I like to keep the ball.

“Everybody when they are little, they enter football because they like it. They play football and don’t want to run after the ball.

“That is why I just tried to keep the ball and sometimes to get into the box, it was unlucky I didn’t score.

“I think I played higher on the pitch, whereas at Groningen I played more as a number six, so more defensive.
