Now that’s Terrier spirit...

TOWN STARS SURPRISE YOUNGSTERS IN HOSPITAL WITH EARLY CHRISTMAS PRESENTS

- By BEN ABBISS

PL AYERS from Huddersfield Town have been spreading some Terrier Christmas spirit to sick children.

Several members of the first team visited the children’s ward at Calderdale Royal Hospital last week to drop off some early Christmas presents and spend time with their young fans.

Club captain, Tommy Smith, was joined by Jonathan Hogg, Mathias Zanka, Terence Kongolo, Phil Billing, Ben Hamer, Laurent Depoitre, Elias Kachunga, Matty Daly and Ryan Schofield on the visit.

The players delivered gifts that included goodies from the Huddersfield Town Megastore at the John Smith’s Stadium.

They took photos with the children as well as signing a few autographs and hanging around for a chat.

Danish defender Zanka said: “It’s good to come here and show our faces, in the hope it brings a little bit of joy to a tough situation.

“Luckily there is a lot of smiles on the kids and it seems like everyone’s in a great spirit. We’re really happy to contribute just a little bit.

“You realise that football is such a small thing. There is so many other things in life and a lot more pressing matters than just kicking a ball around a field. The fact we can come here and make a tiny difference in these kids’ lives – seeing the parents how they light up seeing their kids forgetting about illness and hospitals.”
