Sometimes you don’t have to see to believe

-

PLEASE don’t misjudge the intention of this letter, I don’t intend it to be long and boring.

Just a few thoughts I have now Christmas is over for another year.

I love Christmas, always have, the thrill of Santa, the parents and children.

But recently I have noticed that we are missing something. All the coloured lights depend on electricity, the shop decorations with moving scenes also depend on electricity.

All the street decorations depend on electricity. As do lots of toys, either electricity or batteries. We only see what we want to see, and not what is really there.

Why is it that we do not need to see electricity to know it is there. And yet legions of people have doubts about believing in God because they cannot see him.

Our modern lives depend on GPS, air transport depends upon air traffic controllers that they cannot see.

I had the pleasure a few years ago of meeting a lovely family, the father was an eminent doctor and researcher, he did so much good in his life, which was cut short due to illness, but to the very end he worked for the good of people.

He had a strong faith, which was not Christian, but a hope and belief that all people of all religions have the same hope inside them that God, by which ever name he is called, exists.

He explained how this belief has been developed over centuries, and is still developing.

If we take the time to think of all the brilliant people that have lived on our planet and discovered so many wonderful things, be it explorers, scientists, doctors, researchers, engineers, mechanics, postmen, etc, when they find something new it is wonderful. But because they have just discovered it, doesn’t mean it hasn’t been there all along.

Please take a moment to look past the marketing, the biggest present, the brightest lights, and think about your inner spirit, yes, we all have one. That’s the part of you, that gets you through the toughest of times.

Look up at the sky at night, the stars are far brighter than the street lights.

You don’t see electricity, you don’t see GPS working, so maybe, just maybe, even though you have been on the planet enough time to make an opinion, and are confident you know about everything that you need to know; that maybe, just maybe, the millions of people throughout the centuries who have come before you and they all can’t have been wrong.

So please now you have enjoyed Christmas, maybe just think about the meaning behind it.
