Dutch star: ‘There’s no easy Prem matches, and that’s good’

- By MEL BOOTH

TERENCE Kongolo knows all about the impact that can be made on Huddersfield Town by a January signing.

He was one himself, on loan from Monaco, a year ago and has since become Town’s record signing on a fouryear contract.

Midfielder Alex Pritchard also joined from Norwich City at the same time and played his part in the club’s survival story in 2017-18.

Kongolo said: “When I joined Huddersfield, I found it a little bit different.

“When I played at Feyenoord or Monaco, every week was not like in the Premier League.

“Every team in the Premier League is good. That is not the same in Holland and France. It is why I like the Premier League.

“The weather is different, that is true. But I like it here. This country loves football, it is number one.

“The league here is really intense.

“In France, you have only five clubs that are good. Same in Holland with only five clubs.

“With the Premier League, even the last place is a good team. The games are really hard and it is why I like it.

“When I joined, in the beginning it was a little bit of a struggle. But that is why I signed for Huddersfield, it was my sort of challenge. I like to fight.

“That is why Huddersfield was good for me.”

Town boss David Wagner has stressed the club will do all they can in the January window to help improve goalscoring and, as a knock-on, their points-gathering potential.
