Town complete deal for young Spurs defender

initially join Mark Hudson’s Elite Development Squad where he will link up with fellow England Under 19 international Demeaco Duhaney.

Brown has featured for Spurs in the Checkatrade Trophy four times this season, scoring once in the 4-0 away win over Gillingham.

On the move, Huddersfield Town academy manager Leigh Bromby said: “We’re delighted to be able to welcome Jaden to Huddersfield Town today. We firmly believe that Jaden is one of the most promising young English full backs around and we believe his qualities will fit the ‘Terriers Identity’ perfectly.

“He’s a player with a will to win and fight for his team, he’s good going forward and he has a clear desire to continue progressing in his career. We’re really looking forward to working with him on the training pitch.”

Brown is Town’s first signing of the 2019 January transfer window, with Rajiv van La Parra and Ramadan Sobhi both heading out on loan already this month.

There will likely be more moves both in and out of the John Smith’s Stadium in January, with Town chairman Dean Hoyle announcing on new Year’s Eve that he would not allow the Terriers to ‘sleepwalk into relegation’.

Meanwhile, Town centre-back Christopher Schindler believes it is up to the players to get the fans behind the team with a solid performance and result in their New Year clash with Burnley.

The Terriers were beaten at Fulham last time out thanks to a late Aleksandar Mitrovic goal, which handed Town a seventh straight league defeat in December for the first time since 1955.

The loss badly dented Town’s Premier League survival hopes, and Schindler is now adamant it is the players’ duty to get the supporters going at the John Smith’s Stadium on Wednesday.

He said: “I think, with the result against Fulham, we are under a lot of pressure.

“Even at the minute, we don’t have to look too much at the table or other teams because if we don’t win games or lose games then we don’t need to focus on the other teams. We should just start winning games, getting results and then we can look at the table again.

“To be honest, everyone is paralysed at the minute. It’s really hard.

“Week in, week out it’s almost the same story: we don’t score, we concede one and lose the games.

“It’s almost the same week in, week out that’s why one game can, at least, put some life back into the squad, keep the lads going and bring some faith back.

“There’s still a lot of games to go, but it’s not going to get any easier.

“The games you are able to win, you have to win. The games where you can get a point, you have to get a point.

“We can’t afford to lose games like we did at Fulham. This is not mature enough or smart enough.

“If we took a point there we would have another point on the board and then we would go again against Burnley and go for the win - it would look different. These type of games are what we have had too often so far, but as long as we have the opportunity to stay up from a points point of view then we have to believe it. We cannot just stop playing football, we just have to try.”
