“I have said it’s not about fear, it’s about that I feel responsibility.

“I like to put a smile on people’s faces, like we have done over the last three years and a couple of months – and I am not able to deliver it.

“This is nothing that satisfies me. I know and I feel the responsibility for it.

“I feel responsibility for everything that happened since I arrived, but I feel responsibility for the last six weeks as well.

“The reality at the minute is I’m not happy, because I haven’t delivered what I expect, and this means we have, and I have, to turn it.”

On support from within the club, season. A big factor in the success we’ve enjoyed over the last three years has been the fantastic support the team has received from the stands.

“Even this year, in a difficult season to date, the unity from our fans on match day has been incredible.

“It’s only right that we continue that ethos and I’m delighted to freeze season card prices once again. Wagner added: “Absolutely, I can’t ask for more support than I’ve got from the board and especially from Dean, our chairman.

“We are always, and we are at the minute, in very tight and honest conversations about everything, so I can’t ask for more.” So how intense is the situation?

“There is no chance to switch off. No chance,” answered Wagner.

“It is always in your head. Sometimes at the front of your head, but always at the back of your head.

“But this is the case over the whole season, not only now because of this period.

“Even if you have had a good period, your football club, your team, your backroom staff, all the employees and all the supporters are always in your head – sometimes very, very present in the front of your head and always in the back of your head.

“It’s always there.”

I can’t ask for more support than I’ve got from the board, and especially our

chairman

“Thank you to every single one of our magnificent supporters for their continued backing.

“Whatever comes, we will need you again next season.

“Please renew and continue to make the John Smith’s Stadium atmosphere the envy of many up and down the country.”
