Ex-Terrier out for Cardiff as Town come calling

- By RORY BENSON @examinerHTAFC

CARDIFF City may be without injured duo Kadeem Harris and Danny Ward for tomorrow’s clash against Town.

The pair picked up knocks in the Bluebirds’ 1-0 FA Cup loss to Gillingham last time out, with both requiring scans after being knocked out of the competition by the League One side. And boss Neil Warnock will be sweating on the fitness of both former Town man Ward and Harris, who have made 11 and 13 appearances for Cardiff respectively this season.

After the defeat at Prestfield Stadium, ex-Town manager Warnock said: “I didn’t really want to play [former Town defender Sean] Morrison if I’m honest but you saw their team, if we hadn’t had played Morrison we’d have got bullied out of it altogether.

“Kadeem is having an x-ray and Danny is having a scan on his cheekbone. He was headbutted on his cheekbone as he’s gone to flick it on, which is just typical bad luck for him, just coming back.

“We’re hoping Kadeem is alright, it’s just his shoulder. It was pointless leaving him on and they decided to take him to hospital.”

Gary Madine will not feature for Cardiff against Town this weekend after he was loaned to Sheffield United. And Warnock admitted that the 28-year-old’s departure further highlighted his side’s need for a striker this month.

He said: “Yeah, I mean, we know that [is what we need]. It’s getting strikers in January. You look at some of the players we’re looking at and the figures are astronomical.”
