Yorkshire star back for England women
YORKSHIRE’S Katherine Brunt, and Sarah Taylor, will return for England Women as the squads were named for the upcoming tours to India and Sri Lanka.
The experienced pair missed the side’s run to the World Twenty20 final at the back end of last year, with Taylor not featuring as part of the management of her anxiety while Brunt was a late withdrawal because of a back injury.
But they will both be available for the three one-day internationals against India in Mumbai later this month before wicketkeeper Taylor heads home.
Brunt is in contention for the three T20s that follow early next month but the seam bowling all-rounder will miss the visit to Sri Lanka.
Jenny Gunn, who, like Taylor and Brunt, retained her central contract earlier this week, will play no part as she is being rested, while fellow bowlers Kirstie
Gordon and Katie George miss out because of injury.
Uncapped seamer Freya Davies has been named in the T20 squad to take on India as well as the Sri
Lanka series that follows.
Head coach Mark Robinson said: “We’ve looked to use as many players as we can to give everyone an opportunity to learn and grow as we head into a busy year.
“We’ve included 18 players across the squads and they’ll come in and out as the tours progress as we look to improve our strength in depth.
“We’ve got a huge Ashes series in the summer, as well as hosting the West Indies, and obviously there are ICC Women’s Championship points up for grabs across both of these tours so there’s hard work ahead.”
