I still believe! Lossl’s call to keep the faith

in his John Smith’s Stadium colleagues to push for survival in the remaining 13 matches.

“I laugh a little bit when we are written off because I still believe – we have a chance and we will go for that chance 100 per cent,” said World Cup squad player Lossl, who is as keen as his colleagues to win and provide a fillip for illness-hit chairman Dean Hoyle.

“I believe in the squad, the lads, the club and the support we get, because what we have achieved over the last few years has been extra-ordinary. I know how the club works and all the lads and, personally, I just want to give everything.

“Like I say, we still have a chance and we will fight with everything to take that chance.”

Town are looking for a first win over Arsenal since 1971 – 11 unsuccessful attempts – and to avenge a 1-0 defeat at the Emirates back on December 8.

Lossl feels one win will lead to more as they bid for a revival under new boss Jan Siewert.

“Hopefully one will be a catalyst and we can get on a roll,” he said.

“We really need three points and we know we need them sooner rather than later.

“We need to get going because three points are not enough. We need way more, and we need to get into a period of winning.

“It is definitely still possible (survival) because we have 13 games left and we need to score, maybe, 24 or 25 more points more to come up to the level we were last season, which was enough.

“And I think it will be enough this season as well.”

Town’s players had a small celebration for Lossl’s birthday before the Chelsea match, which he says illustrates there is still tremendous spirit in the camp. “We haven’t got time for a big party because there is a lot of work to do,” he explained.

“They had a small birthday cake for me, which was really nice. It was just one portion, for me, with two candles, I don’t know why.

“The spirit is still there, definitely.

“The new manager has come in with a big bounce of energy, which has affected the team somehow. There is a good spirit.

“He has brought in his ideas and he took us down to Portugal for some intensive training and to come close together as a group.

“I think everybody is together about this project of keeping us up right now, and we are really close.

“We have said through the season it’s about the next game, more now

We still have a chance and we will fight with everything to take that
