Attacking approach suits new-look Town

- By MEL BOOTH @examinerHTAFC

TOWN produced a much more attacking display against Arsenal.

With a bit more luck and quality around the Arsenal box, Jan Siewert’s side might well have been celebrating three points rather than reflecting on a 2-1 defeat to goals from Alex Iwobi and Alexandre Lacazette.

Town have suffered a seventh straight home defeat, so the statistics still don’t look good, but at least Town broke their five-match run without a goal.

Here are some of the key issues we learned from the match against Arsenal...

The 30-year-old missed Town’s defeat at Chelsea with a back injury.

And how Town suffered without his ball-winning influence in the centre of the park.

Hogg was back to something like his best against Arsenal – forget the misplaced pass before the visitors’ second goal – and his presence allowed the likes of Mooy, Juninho Bacuna and Diakhaby to focus fully on sparking some attacks.

His experience shone through on many occasions and he is a key part of the team.

Town’s fans may pretty much be resigned to relegation, but it didn’t stop their humour and their excellent backing of the team.

Supporters were buoyed by the team’s improved performance against Arsenal and the more attacking style under new boss Jan Siewert. When the Arsenal fans started chanting ‘you’re going down, you’re going down’ there was no better way of shutting them up than by joining in!
