League leaders hit Meltham for seven in cup as Taylor nets

DIVISION One leaders Linthwaite remain top despite not playing a league game.

They did, however, comfortabl­y beat Division Four side Meltham 7-0 in the Invitation cup, with a hat-trick from Taylor.

Holmbridge stay close in second after a 2-0 away win over Heywoods Irish, with goals from Parr and Hazelden. Bottom club Colne Valley seem doomed to relegation after losing 6-0 at home to Honley. Fourth-placed Shepley played out an entertaini­ng 5-5 away draw at Slaithwait­e.

Berry Brow – with goals from Lodge and Oakes – beat Hepworth United, while Skelmantho­rpe moved away from the relegation zone with a 5-3 home win over Newsome.

Scholes stay six points clear at the top of Division Two after a 3-3 draw in Littleboro­ugh and Dalton Dynamos moved up to fourth with a 5-0 over Almondbury Woolpack.

Holme Valley Academical­s stay bottom of the division following a 4-0 loss at home to Marsden. Lepton moved a step nearer safety at the bottom beating Kirkheaton 5-2.

In the Invitation Cup, Fothergill and Whittles lost 6-2 to West Yorkshire League side Shelley Reserves, while AFC Lindley also went out to West Riding County Amateur League leaders Golcar United 5-0.

In Division Three second-placed Junction lost at home to fourth placed 3D Dynamos, as Cumberwort­h in third beat Hade Edge away 5-1.

In Division Four, leaders Grange Moor Saints lost away at Kirkburton 1-0 thanks to a goal from Matt Willans. Huddersfie­ld YM stay second beating Cleckheato­n 7-0. Adam Pogson, an 80th-minute substitute, secured the points for Mount in a 1-0 win away at Wooldale.

In Reserve Division One, bottom club Holmbridge beat Shelley 5-1 while second-bottom Berry Brow also won 2-1 against Neighbours Netherton. In the Invitation Trophy Division One top team Newsome were beaten at home by Junction.

Division Two top team Fothergill and Whittles won 3-2 at Uppermill. 3D Dynamos stay third after a 3-3 draw with Slaithwait­e. Hepworth United stay second in Division Four with a narrow 3-2 win over Grange Moor Saints.

Britannia Sports stay top with a 5-1 away win over Cumberwort­h B.
