Manager talks up Bacuna’s fighting team spirit

- By MEL BOOTH @examinerHTAFC

PROMISING midfielder Juninho Bacuna is showing all the fighting qualities for Town which Jan Siewert most treasures.

The 21-year-old Dutchman is one of only five players to start all three matches so far under the new German head coach.

And if Siewert’s pre-match press conference is anything to go by, the former Groningen player and Netherlands U21 cap should be getting his boots polished to take on Newcastle United at St James’ Park.

Asked how he feels Bacuna is doing, the 36-year-old German didn’t hesitate in his reply.

“I think the fact he has started is already a statement,” he remarked of Bacuna’s form against Everton, Chelsea and Arsenal.

“He is really doing well, and I think everyone saw it in the Arsenal game.

“He is aggressive, he is fighting and he has good possibilities to change from one side to the other.”

Siewert added: “I like that players fight for the ball. If they lose it, they have to make sure as quick as possible they regain it.

“I definitely like the attitude of players who never give up a ball.

“They keep fighting for each ball and each situation and he has shown that he can do it.

“I think Baca, and Adama Diakhaby, have taken their chance.”
