Jan must try and raise Town spirits

- By MEL BOOTH @examinerHTAFC

IT’S not much fun being a Town player, staff member or supporter right at the moment.

The horrendous run of 13 defeats in 14 Premier League outings since the victory at Wolves in November has hit everyone.

Town’s confidence on the pitch has taken successive hammer blows, a lot of key decisions have gone against the team and the lack of goals continued in the 2-0 defeat by Newcastle United at St James’ Park.

Here are five things we learned from the latest match : competitive and causing Newcastle some problems, but once Smith had gone, they had no answer to the extra man and the extra quality of Newcastle.

Town are going to pick up further points this season only if they can keep 11 on the pitch and play to their best. he’s already shown in his bitpart appearances that he has goals in his locker.

He has scored 15 of them this season and the remaining matches in the Premier League would be an ideal testing ground for the abilities he will want to show in the Championship next season (yes, I know, it’s not done and dusted just yet). staff ’s powerful drive illustrated the point perfectly. He put his body on the line and succeeded in his objective. A real warrior.

IT’S highly unlikely Town will survive in the Premier League for another season, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to down tools.

There is much to put in place in the remaining 11 games which can sustain Town and their fans for the challenges that will lay ahead next season, almost certainly in the Championship.

The supporters want to see Town playing with pride once again, and with an attacking spirit.

Siewert has expressed his commitment to doing just that, and the players must stand up and be counted in every match.
