Otters reclaim water polo title
HUDDERSFIELD Otters men’s water polo team have reclaimed the Wakefield and District league title.
Huddersfield had already beaten teams from Barnsley, Leeds, Sheffield and York, however, the final positions went to the wire as Huddersfield edged out Rotherham with a superior goal difference.
Rotherham, who had beaten Huddersfield in one of the last games of the season, were unable to overturn the deficit so Huddersfield took the title.
Huddersfield’s Jack Wilkins and Chris Sharp dominated the league’s top goalscorer list with an incredible 14 and 10 goals respectively.
Wilkins said: “I’m obviously really pleased to be recognised for the goals I’ve scored, but I’m just really happy to be able to contribute to the whole team’s success as it’s been a great year for everyone.”
Martin Daws of Constructional Timber, who sponsor the Otters, said: “It’s great to see the club go from strength to strength.
“With the new season just around the corner, I wish the teams the best of luck with their preparation and for the upcoming season again.”
Huddersfield Otters are actively looking for new members for both their senior and junior teams. For more information visit huddersfieldotters.com and arrange a free taster session.
