Peaker hitting the heights

IN this week’s Huddersfie­ld Billiard League fixtures there were only six breaks of 25-plus.

Jack Dyson, of Meltham Lib A, had a 30, John Bastow, of Meltham Lib B, made a 33, John Ingleby, of Moldgreen Lib, recorded breaks of 45 and 40, Mathew Peaker, of Brockholes BC, registered a 50 break – however, the highest break of the week came from David Peaker, of Brockholes BC, with a break of 55 against Graham Whitehouse, of Marsh Lib A.

In this week’s Open Snooker League matches, with one result outstandin­g, there were 26 breaks of 25-plus, five players – Colin Hawk- ins, of Marsden Social, Kyle Keyworth, of St Patricks A, Joe Beaumont, of Meltham Lib F, Clive Walton, of Slaithwait­e C & BC A, and Gary Doughty, of Crosland Moor Con A, all hit a 25.

Both Mark White, of Meltham Lib E, and Gareth Norcliffe, of Berry Brow Lib B, made a 26, Steven Berry of Hillhouse and Birkby BC A, and Paul Wood, of Slaithwait­e BC A, both recorded a break of 27.

A 28 break was recorded by both John Bellfield, of New Mill A, and John Bastow, of Meltham Lib E, both James Watson, of Hillhouse and Birkby BC A, and Austin Roddy, of Lepton Lib B, made a 29.

Carl Zaffino, of Marsden RBL B, registered a break of 30, Tony Proctor, of Broad Oak BC A, and Philip Headey, of Meltham Lib A, both had a 31, Marvin Nestor, of Top Spot, registered a 32, Kevin Hirst, of Hillhouse and Birkby BC A, made a 33, both John Bastow, of Meltham Lib E, and Chris Thorpe, of Marsh Lib A, recorded a 35.

Ryan Bodsworth, of Lockwood Con A, made a 39, Julian Hodge, of Broad Oak BC A, had breaks of 43 and 27, Glenn Wilkinson, of Meltham Lib E, had a 47, Rob Armitage, of Marsh Lib B, had a fine 59 – but the highest break of the week came from Kevin Ellis, of Broad Oak BC A, with a break of 65 against Martyn Willans, of Meltham Lib C.

In the Huddersfie­ld Sunday Schools Billiards League six-times Huddersfie­ld billiards champion and Brockholes BC player, Matthew Peaker, recoded the highest break when he made 70 and 63 in his match with New North Road player Ralph Leach to help him run out a winner (-100) 200-184 (+130).

The Brockholes side ran out with a 3-0 win to hold a small advantage at the top of the table.

Matthew Peaker also posted breaks of 55, 50, 47, 43 and 42.

Other breaks came from Jack Dyson, who made breaks of 43, 38, 30 and 27. Paddock Con player Ben Whitehouse hit a 29, and Rastrick New Road’s Chris Evans hit a 26.
