Hogg misses Bournemouth clash in blow for Town

MIDFIELD grafter Jonathan Hogg has been ruled out of Huddersfield Town’s clash with AFC Bournemouth at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The 30-year-old was taken off in the first half of the 1-0 defeat at Brighton after suffering rib damage.

And head coach Jan Siewert, while confirming Hogg could be out for some time, pointed to others who are doubtful for the Premier League meeting with Eddie Howe’s Cherries.

“We are short on numbers at the moment, that’s for sure, which is why I’ve had to write the injury list down,” said Siewert, who has made Christopher Schindler team captain for the rest of the season.

“Hoggy is still a problem with his ribs, and he isn’t good at all unfortunately. Demeaco (Duhaney) has a problem with a hip, so he is not able to play.

“Also, Laurent Depoitre has a problem with a foot at the moment, so I am not quite sure if it’s possible for him at the weekend.

“Then, don’t forget, we have Adama (Diakhaby) and Issac (Mbenza) who are still injured, so we are short on numbers, especially with Tommy (Smith) still suspended.”

Siewert said he believed he had ‘a solution’ for replacing Hogg in midfield but would not reveal it.

He revealed Jason Puncheon had trained this week and was under consideration like the rest of the fit squad.

There was no mention of long-term injury victims Abdelhamid Sabiri (collar bone surgery) and Danny Williams (knee ligaments) who are both working their way back to fitness.
