Bacuna may be answer to Hogg blow for Siewert

JAN Siewert says he has a solution to Jonathan Hogg’s injury absence for Huddersfield Town against Bournemouth today.

The German head coach, of course, was giving no clues to the media in his pre-match press conference at PPG Canalside.

It didn’t sound like Siewert was planning wholesale changes.

He made eight, of course, to the starting line-up against Wolves and was rewarded with an encouraging performance and a first Premier League victory, 1-0 thanks to Steve Mounie’s late goal.

There was one change to that starting line-up at Brighton, with Juninho Bacuna replacing the injured Demeaco Duhaney at right-back - but Siewert had to make three subs during the 90 minutes.

Siewert was angry about the one mistake which cost Town at the Amex Stadium, so that suggests he was reasonably happy with the rest of the performance and the personnel involved. So could his solution to rib-injury victim Hogg’s absence against Bournemouth be this?

Move Bacuna into midfield, alongside Philip Billing and anchorman Jon Gorenc Stankovic. Shift German World Cup winner Erik Durm from leftback to right-back.

Put Chris Lowe into his regular slot at left-back, where he has performed well for the large majority of this season.

That would leave Town with a starting line-up of Jonas Lossl in goal behind a defence of

Lowe, Durm, Terence Kongolo and matchday captain Christopher Schindler.

In midfield, Stankovic would play behind Bacuna and Billing.

Up front, Alex Pritchard would prompt Karlan Grant and Steve Mounie. JAN Siewert has outlined the qualities which make Matty Daly the next potential Huddersfield Town debutant.

The Terriers’ head coach included the 17-year-old on the bench for last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at Brighton, although he was an unused substitute.

It was the England age-group international’s first involvement with the senior matchday squad, although he was a scorer in the pre-season friendly at Bury under former boss David Wagner.

So what does Siewert like about the midfielder who has performed
