Gladiator Cawood wins Yorkshire title
NATHAN Cawood of Huddersfield Gladiators made a successful return to the ring, beating Robert Magill by unanimous decision in Henry Wharton’s show in York to add the Yorkshire open class belt to the North of England belt and junior national title he has won previously.
The young Brackenhall talent next boxes in the senior elite championships later this month as he looks to build on his recent success.
Charlie Martin Stuart defended his Yorkshire belt for a second time, securing a third round TKO against a strong opponent in Bradford.
Charlie’s younger brother Frankie Stuart also made his debut on the show, securing a unanimous victory in impressive style.
The brothers, from Linthwaite, are now looking to build on promising recent results when they travel to box in Knottingley later this month.
Young Gladiator Armand Rafai of Fartown beat a two-time national champion and an England representative to win his second open class Yorkshire title in as many seasons. It’s an impressive performance from a very talented boxer who is tipped for the top.
Pawel Sienkiewicz also impressed as he secured his second victory of the month in Sheffield with another good performance to see off a tricky home fighter. Pawel, 16, has impressed after coming back from a difficult start to secure some impressive victories.
These results mean Gladiators have now secured six Yorkshire champions this season, with more big fights to come in the next few weeks.
