Shelley facing three games in FOUR days

- By DOUGLAS THOMPSON

SHELLEY are facing an old-school Easter as they aim to finish their maiden Hallmark Security North West Counties League campaign on a high.

The Huddersfield side’s recentlypostponed First Division North match at Carlisle City has been rearranged for Good Friday, April 19.

Manager Ash Berry, whose team have six games to go in all, is pleased to avoid a midweek evening slot – but Shelley now face three games, all away, in four days.

They also visit Oldham to play Avro on Saturday, April 20 and go to Bacup Borough on Easter Monday, April 22.

It’s something of a throwback schedule for Shelley, whose final game of the season is at home to Garstang on Saturday, April 27.

News of the busy holiday programme comes as Berry prepares for his side’s first game in four weeks, against Atherton Laburnum Rovers at the Stafflex Arena on Saturday.

Ninth-placed Shelley are seeking a 14th league win of the season against Rovers, who have had a torrid time of it and are in real danger of relegation.

They have only two victories to their name and are 16 points away from safety with only 21 to play for.

Dan Keane and Matty Waller, who Craig Billington will be out to add to his 26-goal tally as Ash Berry’s side play for the first time since February 23
