The point of no return for Town is fast approaching
THE majority of Town fans have been resigned to relegation from the Premier League for a number of weeks now.
Jan Siewert – and to a lesser extent his players – have been adamant that while ever survival is still a mathematical possibility they will still believe they can pull off the great escape.
Well, the point of no return is almost upon us.
Huddersfield Town could be relegated by the end of their next Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace on Saturday, March
30
The Terriers visit Selhurst Park at 3pm. Poignantly it is the ground of the Terriers’ first ever Premier League match – a heroic 3-0 victory on the first day of the 2017/18 season, which saw two goals from new signing Steve Mounie.
Then the highest points tally Town can achieve in their last six games would be 33.
Therefore if Burnley and Palace both win on Saturday and go on to 33 points they would still be catchable – but only by Town finishing with a better goal difference. That said, if Burnley or Palace manage to lose every remaining game while Town win all theirs, the goal difference should take care of itself.
Obviously, if
Town draw and either of those sides does not win, then Town will not be relegated on Saturday.

Then the highest points total Town will be able to reach in their remaining six games will be 32. If Burnley and Southampton both win then they will be on 33 points and Town would be mathematically relegated by the final whistle on Saturday. If either of those sides loses or draws then they would be on 30 or 31 points and Town could still catch them if they win all their remaining games.
