THE 2018/19 campaign is starting to wind down and Town are looking increasingly like they need to plan for a season in the Championship next year.

Dropping down a division could present a chance for some players who were not considered quite good enough for the Premier League to come back into the side.

Five first team players left the John Smith’s Stadium this season in search of first team football in the English lower leagues or abroad.

Here we take a look at how the five first team players who have left the John Smith’s Stadium have been getting on this season.

Quaner joined Championship strugglers Ipswich Town on a six month long loan spell in January.

The 27-year-old has been a regular starter for The Tractor Boys and has been deployed exclusively as an outand-out striker as opposed to being used on the wing like he was during his Town days.

He got his first goal for the club – to go with his three assists – in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest. Still, not a great return from 533 Championship minutes. Championship club in search of first team football in January.

Tony Pulis recently said it was due to ‘tactical reasons’ with the 27-year-old not fitting his preferred 5-3-2 formation.

Van La Parra doesn’t seem too happy if a cryptic Intagram post is anything to go by but Pulis said the winger is still working and training hard.

“He’s done everything we’ve wanted him to,” said Pulis. “But I just don’t think he’s fitted into the pattern and that’s nothing to do with him, that’s just the shape of the team.

“The team’s more important than any individual.” relegated Stoke City in the summer. He struggled for game time though and this January he rejoined his former club, Al Ahly SC, until the end of the season.

The Cairo club currently sit second in the Egyptian Premier League and 22-year-old Sobhi has started most games on the left wing. Though he is the most valuable player in the league (according to Transfermarkt), he is yet to set the division alight with just a goal and an assist to his name to date.

The attacking midfielder, 24, has spent this season on loan at League One club Bradford City, where he has contributed nine goals and five assists in a horrible season for Bradford.

The Bantams are likely to be relegated to League Two but Payne has still managed to stand out as a creative force, contributing nine goals and five assists.

The 19-year-old joined League Two stragglers Notts County on loan in January and has only missed one game between the sticks.

A comic blunder in a recent game against Carlisle United does not reflect an overall impressive spell and the responses from Magpies fans after the mistake show how valued he is at Meadow Lane.

They called him ‘one of the best ‘keepers we’ve had in a long time’ and said he had ‘ pulled of some cracking saves home and away’ this season.
