LEARNING CURVE FOR BOSS JAN

-

reckons these post-relegation fixtures are a great chance to further assess his squad with regard to next season, there’s also a school of thought that this is an ideal opportunity for Town to give themselves a lift

Watford will be no pushover. They are where they are in the table on merit – and it’s never easy to reach an FA Cup final, which they have shown character to achieve.

They are physical and well-drilled with no shortage of tricky, attacking players – even without suspended Troy Deeney – so Town will have their work cut out.

But this is the penultimate home game of two years in the Premier League. It’s an occasion to savour and, if any Terrier needs motivation for this one, then they are in the wrong place.

The fans will be up for it, so the players must respond with a bright, inventive and attacking performance. At home, the onus is on Town to take the game to the opposition, in a disciplined but determined style, and some goals would not go amiss.

It would be the ideal birthday present for chairman Dean Hoyle after his illness problems this season – he was 52 on Tuesday – and a signal there is still pride to be played for.

By the sounds of it, Siewert agrees with this sentiment, although he wasn’t giving too much away at his pre-match press conference.

When quizzed by the Examiner about his approach to the game, and whether it would it be attacking, Siewert smiled before considering his reply.

“I look at our idea this weekend,” he said.

“In the Premier League so much is analysed. I know how much I analyse the opponents and I know how much they analyse us.”

So will our idea be to attack and exploit them out wide?

“I think so. I think there are possibilities for us,” he reluctantly ventured. Will there be changes again?

“It is about learning about every player, and now is that possibility, so I don’t waste time,” he said.

“In these last four games I have to have a look.”

It is about learning about every player, and now is that possibility
