Cash boost for charity
NURSERY CHILDREN HELP RAISE £11,000 FOR SHABANG!
PORTLAND Nurseries, a group of four day nurseries in Huddersfield, have collectively raised £11,000 for local children’s charity Shabang!
Kim Reuter and Russ Elia, founders of Slaithwaite-based Shabang!, were presented with a cheque for the noney after putting on a special show for the preschool children at Oakwood House Nursery.
Over the last year the children, families and the staff team have taken part in numerous fundraising activities and events for the charity from sunflower challenges, toddler toddles, climbing Scafell in the Lake District, matchbox challenges, bake sales and more.
Anastasia Murphy, managing director of Portland Nurseries, said: “Every year we ask our staff team, parents and children to choose a charity close to their hearts that we can support through the nursery. Many of our nursery parents with children who have additional needs receive continued support from Shabang Inclusive Learning, so we felt a connection to this special charity.
“By raising money and awareness we can help ensure that Shabang! can continue their amazing work raising positive awareness and creative projects for children and young adults for years to come.
“We would also like to thank Kim and Russ for the special performances they have put on at our nurseries.”
Kim said: “The total raised by Portland Nurseries will make an enormous difference to the work we do for local children with disabilities and their families.
“We cannot thank the staff and parents of Portland nurseries enough for all their hard work fundraising this year. This will make a huge difference to us.”
