My hospital experience shows closure is madness

-

I visited A&E at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for a month (weekly). Excellent care from ambulance staff to all the other staff - no problems - then in August I was rushed in and on Ward 19.

My consultant was away on holiday but consultant Mr McWilliams took over. It was complete bed rest for a week then ward 21.I said it was just like being in a first class hotel with no bill to pay. All the staff from top to bottom were excellent, I cannot fault a thing.

I am 80 years old and this was my first experience of being in hospital. Thank all for everything. Whoever thinks of closing HRI down they must be mad!

People from the Holme Valley to have to go to Calderdale I feel very sorry for them. So far away from family and visitors.

Once again thank you from the bottom of my heart for the last two months, I am now at home recovering.

Shocking levels of animal experiments

I’VE been appalled to find out that over three million animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits and monkeys are still being used in animal experiments in the UK each year, according to the Home Office. Many people think that animal testing is banned but that’s far from the truth.

Animal welfare charity Naturewatch Foundation is doing all it can to encourage people to shop ethically.

I recommend their compassionate shopping guide for details of the best cruelty free brands. The guide is soon to be

available online free of charge.

It could be worse than life in container

I am so sorry for the lady on television who has been forced to live in a converted shipping container, which looks to have all the mod cons.

I do not know from what country she originated but I am sure of one thing some people of that country would be grateful for what she has, so would the people who are homeless and have to live on the streets and sleep in shop doorways.

A few months ago a farmer on Grand Design fixed two containers together and made a beautiful home so why is this lady acting the way she is?

I wonder if the country she originated from would do as much for her and her family as her adopted country I’d doing.

Surgery’s service always been brilliant

WHEN rating local doctors surgeries I would like to praise the excellence of Croft House Surgery, Slaithwaite.

I have been a patient there since it opened about 70 years ago and I have always had brilliant service from the doctors, nurses and administrative staff.

Much of its success is down to the leadership of my personal doctor Dr David Hindle, a caring and talented clinician. I wish him and his colleagues well, especially with a move pending into the centre of the village.
