Bok and roll summer for Kirklees swimmers

THERE was another fantastic summer in the pool for the members of Borough of Kirklees (BOK) Swimming Club.

There was a bronze for Jonathan Booth in the 100m free at the British Summer Championsh­ips in Glasgow.

He also reached the 400m free, 100m back and 100m fly finals while Rebecca Thornton was a 400m free finalist.

Avril Bowler, Chloe Hirst, Emily Brook, Georgina Wright and Ruby Knight all achieved the required British ranked places to compete.

Chloe Hirst, Emily Brook and Lillie Bryant qualified for the 4x200m free relay.

BOK had 11 swimmers competing in the ASA English Nationals summer event in Sheffield, reaching a total of 19 finals.

Georgina Wright claimed gold in the 50m breaststro­ke while Aliya Bacakoglu took silver in the 100m fly and 200m IM while also reaching finals for 50m, 100m and 400m free and 100m breaststro­ke.

Chloe Hirst took bronze in the 100m fly, while Emily Brook claimed a BOK record in reaching the final of the

100m fly and also reached the 400m IM final.

Penny Hobson was a finalist in the 50m and 200m breaststro­ke, Ruby Knight took bronze in the 400m and 800m free and was a finalist in the 200m free.

Ben Croft was a 50m backstroke finalist while Brandon Cartwright was 10th HDW in the 1,500m free and Luke Smith a finalist in the 50m back. Meanwhile, James Plant took bronze in the 2km at the English National Open Water finals. Rory Bryant reached the 2km final with Luke Clegg in the 3km final.
