YOUNG Huddersfield Town defender Rarmani EdmondsGreen has put pen to paper on a new deal that will run through to 2022, with the club holding the option to trigger an extra year on the contract.

The 20-year-old defender is a former captain of the Under-18s and featured at centre-back throughout Town’s pre-season preparations, catching the eye in a couple of the Terriers’ summer friendlies.

Edmonds-Green (pictured) made his senior competitive debut for the club in the Carabao Cup clash with Lincoln City last month, playing the full 90 minutes alongside Jon Gorenc Stankovic.

Town’s head of football operations David Webb said: “We’re really happy that we’ve secured the long-term future of Rarmani to the football club.

“Everyone has seen the improvement in Rarmani over the last 12 months and, although he still has a lot to learn.

“He’s a very promising defender who is now a part of our first-team squad.

“It’s important that we secure the future of our talented players and, having taken the option year on his previous contract in the summer, it was great to agree this new contract at the start of the week.”
