Town brothers in arms begin the revolution
plenty of big decisions for them to make with both tactics and personnel.
So what are they likely to do?
TOMMY Elphick was selected for the first few games of the season after joining on a free transfer in the summer, but lost his place to Terence Kongolo for the last two games of Mark Hudson’s caretaker reign as the Dutchman moved across from centre-back. We suspect a lot of this choice comes down to what the Cowleys prioritise in that left-back slot. Kongolo is an international-standard defender but a somewhat conservative player to stick out wide, while Jaden Brown is more naturally adventurous but has limited firstteam football under his belt.
There is also the question of how the side tempers Florent Hadergjonaj’s jaunts forward on the other side. Is he instructed to rein in his attacking tendencies in favour of greater solidity, do they find a better way to cover for him, or do they try someone else altogether?
AN area replete with options, the Cowleys have Trevoh Chalobah, Jonathan Hogg, Juninho Bacuna and Lewis O’Brien to choose from in the more withdrawn roles, plus Alex Pritchard, Reece Brown, and even Matty Daly possibilities in a more creative attacking midfield berth.
Though they have already watched every Town game so far this season, the Cowleys will come in with few preconceptions about who is capable of what, so their appointment represents a blank slate. That could stand the talented but under-performing Juninho Bacuna, in particular, in good stead. We assume that Chalobah will be the first midfielder on the teamsheet, but who partners him?
We have a bit of a hunch - through we stress this is entirely uninformed - that the Cowleys might just love youngster O’Brien’s combination of industry, willingness and eye for a pass. Can he get in ahead of
