Golcar take crown after final thriller
GOLCAR Liberal Club won the Mark Sykes and Janine Daykinsponsored Huddersfield Junior Team Knockout Cup, beating Marsh Lib 133-124 in a thrilling final.
But the semi-finals were just as good, if not better.
Broad Oak Bowling Club, on a +48 start, just lost out to last year’s winners Marsh Lib 135-133 in their semi-final.
But Grange Moor BC, also on +48, tied the score with Golcar Lib, on +30, 146 points each in a game full of ups and downs, and nervous tension everywhere.
Golcar Lib won the nailbiting play off 9-8 to gain their place in the final, and history books.
Yorkshire Junior County teams won their final group game against Warwick and Worcester to win the 2019 Premier League of the Drakes Pride BCGBA Team Championship.
At Cowcliffe Liberal Club Yorkshire claimed a 223-179 victory while away at The Maggies they won 225-196. It is Yorkshire’s fifth title in a row.
