‘I will never take a penny out of Town’

whether there is truth to the rumour that parachute payments were being used to that end, Hodgkinson said: “So two answers. The first and most important one is that I haven’t and never will take a penny out of Huddersfield Town Football Club, so that clears quite a bit of that up.

“As far as the deal to buy the football club that is, as any business deal or acquisition is, covered by a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), the terms of which aren’t going to be disclosed because it’s a business deal and they never are.

“I think Dean covered it in his Q&A when he said ‘I’ve not sold it on RightMove’ - i.e. none of your business.

“What I will say – because I’ve discussed it with Dean because we’ve got an NDA in place – in essence there was a price for the football club and it was the same price for anybody who wanted to buy it and that price is the price.”

Hodgkinson then confirmed that the price itself will remain confidential under NDA.

The chairman then went on to explain that a ‘big chunk’ of the money put into the football club by Hoyle during his 11-year tenure at the club would be repaid.

As is usual for money an owner puts in, that amount is officially injected as a loan made to the club.

The most recent set of accounts the club have published go up to the end of June 2018 and show a total loan amount owing of £50,138,011.

It is understood that Hoyle lent further millions to the club between July 1, 2018 and the time of the agreement to sell off the majority of the club to Hodgkinson earlier this year.

Hodgkinson explained the same amount would have been repaid to Hoyle by the club regardless of whether the takeover happened or not.

He said: “As part of the deal, and as part of the deal with anybody and, more importantly, if Dean still owned the club, Dean would still want to be taking some of his loans out because now is the opportunity.

Dean will get a big chunk of his loans back and it will be over a
