ARMED police swooped on a shisha bar in Fartown on Monday.

Police responded to reports of occupants in a car with a gun on Bradford Road, Huddersfield.

Officers were deployed and police yesterday said three men were arrested for possession of a firearm.

At 5.31pm on Monday West Yorkshire Police received reports over the firearm in a car.

Armed officers were sent to the Share One Shisha Lounge and three men, aged 19, 29 and 30, all from Huddersfield, were arrested for possession of a firearm and remained in police custody yesterday.

Part of the main Bradford Road, between the Texaco petrol station and Mother Hubbard’s fish and chip shop, was sealed off to traffic while the drama unfolded between 7.30pm and 9.30pm.

A man caught up in the drama as he drove to his home near Asda told of what he saw, and what happened to him.

“There was a lorry with a digger on the back,” he said. “Everyone started turning around and I got past the lorry and an armed police officer booted my car.

“I didn’t realise it was a police scene. He tried talking my car keys and he cuffed me before a different uniformed police officer uncuffed me.”

West Yorkshire Police appealed for anyone who had any information to come forward.

A spokeswoman said: “Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any further information is asked to contact the police via 101 quoting crime reference number 13190476172. Information can also be passed to Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
