Nominations wanted for best new buildings
FAVOURITES FOR DESIGN AWARD
WHAT is your favourite new building or development in Huddersfield?
Examiner readers are invited to nominate their choices as part of the Huddersfield Civic Society Design Awards.
They are presented to new and refurbished residential and commercial properties, shop fronts, and community development projects.
If you would like to nominate a scheme you feel has contributed towards the quality of the town, now’s the time to submit your choice.
It must have been completed within the past two years. Projects can be large or small and may range from a well designed house extension to a major development. And you can put forward as many as you feel are worthy.
Nominations from readers will be judged by a panel of experts early in the new year. Presentations of plaques, including an overall winner’s trophy, will be made at a ceremony in Spring.
Over the past seven years overall winners have included: The Graham Cooksey Building at Greenhead College
Refurbishment to Huddersfield Parish Church
Kirkwood Hospice In-Patient Unit Residential conversion at 18 Wood Street, Huddersfield
The Acre Street Out-Patient Centre at Lindley
The Readers’ Award has been presented to outstanding developments including the Oastler Building at the University of Huddersfield and Huddersfield Leisure Centre.
Nominated buildings should fall within the former Huddersfield borough boundary, that is between Outlane and Fixby in the north, Berry Brow and Almondbury in the south, Milnsbridge in the west and Cooper Bridge and Waterloo in the east.
Projects must have been completed between July 1, 2017 and December 31, 2019.
Nominations should be sent to John Lockwood, The Barn House, Ashes Lane, Almondbury, Huddersfield, HD4 6TE or e-mail hcsdesignawards@ gmail.com.
Nominations can be made on the Awards page on the Civic Society website www.huddersfieldcivicsociety.org. uk
