We must step back and check if we still want this

Now that the “Yellowhammer” documents have been prised out of Bojo the Clown’s fat little hands, it is clear that even this government of shysters and charlatans is aware that there will be shortages of food, fuel and medicines. They even accept that there will be outbreaks of civil disobedience (food riots to you and me).

People, they accept, will die as a result of Brexit. Yet leaving the EU is Bojo’s policy! Even though they are aware of the likelihood of social upheaval, job losses and shortages of fuel and food, they are pressing ahead at full speed like some collective captains of the Titanic!

People are entitled to ask why the government is inflicting such hardship on the people of this country. Will Brexit enrich people? No. Will Brexit improve the international standing of the UK? Hardly. We have become a laughing stock, the world’s clown. Will any deal be better than the one we already have with the EU?

Isn’t it time we took a step back, and rethink this problem? We need to have another people’s vote to check if we still want to commit national suicide.

Surely it makes sense to measure twice and cut once!

Corbyn’s U-turns confuse the public

WHAT a weasel-faced man Jeremy Corbyn has turned out to be. This man has no shame whatsoever. For many months, Corbyn has called for a General Election – now, when one could be arranged, he doesn’t want one.

The Labour party has done U turns and backward flips and still the public do not know where and what they stand for. The latest little gem is they are now talking of having another referendum. Labour voters deserve better than these incumbents.

If these people ever gained the keys to No.10, then we could well be looking at a repeat of the 70s. These were the times when we didn’t know whether we were working or striking. These were not the happiest of times for people working in industry. Short weeks equalled short wages.

I am sure someone could tell me what Labour’s manifesto is and where they stand on Brexit and democracy – but by the time they write it down, it will once again have changed.

Best possible care from our hospital

WE hear complaints about our local hospital but I would like to record from our family the wonderful care that was given to my brother, Roy, who passed away yesterday in Ward 14.

We couldn’t have had better care anywhere, both to us as a family and to Roy.

Every good wish to you all, and many thanks.
