Sedgley clash no walk in the Park for Field

- By COREY TOPPING

AFTER a 15-15 draw with Otley last time out, Huddersfield RUFC take on Sedgley Park tomorrow at Lockwood Park (3pm).

The visitors lie joint-second in National League 2 North after wins against Preston Grasshoppers and Wharfedale.

Field, meanwhile, are looking for their first victory of the season following two successive draws.

However, captain Dickie Piper makes a welcome return to the side this weekend to boost head coach Gareth Lewis’ options.

Tor Borrowdale is absent from the squad after featuring last week, however, Yorkshire scrum-half Jack Mapelsden retains his place in the side.

“Sedgley are always one of the top sides in the competition and have a good start once again,” said Lewis.

“They also have Scott Barrow as their new head coach, who I know well from our Yorkshire Carnegie connection.”

Although coming away with a draw, Lewis found positives in his side’s result last week in Otley and has belief that his side are in a positive spirit despite drawing their last two games.

He said: “There was plenty to take from last week’s draw at Otley and we’ve had an excellent week of training.

“But it will certainly require our best performance of the season to beat them.

“We are building momentum week on week now and the lads are very excited to have a good crack at them this week.”
