Danny in no rush to make changes

- By STEVEN CHICKEN

HUDDERSFIELD Town manager Danny Cowley has explained why he is not rushing into making dramatic changes to his team selection this early on in his reign at the club.

Town started the season playing 4-3-3 under Jan Siewert and Cowley stuck with that in his first game in charge against Sheffield Wednesday last week - albeit with some positional tweaks - though he acknowledged he would have preferred to have played 4-2-3-1 had Alex Pritchard been available.

Cowley then made just one change to his line-up to face West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on Sunday, with Elias Kachunga starting in place of Adama Diakhaby.

The Terriers boss said: “I think you have to try and find some continuity somewhere, don’t you?

“You have to start somewhere as a manager when you come in W D L F A P ts 52 1 13 4 17 52 1 12 5 17 5 1 2 14 7 16 8 4 4 0 15 10 16

during the season season. It would be very easy to keep making changes and making changes and making changes, but if you do that nobody gets any rhythm and the players that come in, if you’re really brutal wi with your selection then they can alm almost feel the pressure and I do don’t think putting added pressure on people in this moment is probab ably the right thing to do.

“But what we do have to do is try t to find the ingredients and the formula.

“Every day in training everyth thing gets watched back, the player ers all get marks every training sessio sion so quite quickly we can see wh where their rhythm and their flow is.

“I picked a team (against West Br Brom) that was quite simply the on ones I thought were going to fight th the hardest and that’s what I look for for.

“I look for ones who are going to be really really reliable in their ac actions and their behaviours, an and we were 2-2 at 75 minutes at The Hawthorns, not many people come here and score two goals.

“They’re an unbeaten team that we expect to be at the top of the division.”
