As Pritchard nears his return to action

sised that beating Millwall will take much more than ‘an 11-man job’.

The new boss has been working all week on a game plan which will hopefully deliver three points against Harris’s capital travellers.

Cowley has encountered defeat against Sheffield Wednesday and West Brom in his first two matches at the helm, although he was delighted by the counter-attacking which brought goals for Lewis O’Brien and Karlan Grant – his fifth of the season – at The Hawthorns against West Brom last time out where his side led twice.

“There were some positives from that game but, certainly this week, our focus is about trying to find a way of playing at home,” explained Cowley.

“We will try and find a way to connect with our supporters because, as we know, if we are going to be successful against a very determined Millwall team it’s never an 11-man job.

“It is going to need everybody in the stadium fighting for the cause – so we have to have a connection and build on that to create our fight.” club, and he’ll bring us that kind of je ne sais quoi and that combination and link play which I think the team really needs.”

Cowley also explained why youngsters Aaron Rowe and Demeaco Duhaney - who both made their debuts for the club towards the end of last season’s Premier League campaign - missed out on the Elite Development Team’s 3-2 comeback win over Morecambe on Tuesday.

He said: “They are both young players that we think a lot of. Aaron had a tight hamstring so he didn’t play, and DD had picked up an ankle injury in the previous game, so we were just erring on the side of caution.

“Both of them are in full training now and will either be involved with us on Tuesday [away to Stoke City in the Championship] or will play in the EDT game on Tuesday.”
