Young dancers scoop awards

KATIE Philpott School of Dance has revealed its annual award recipients at a ceremony held at Wellhouse Moravian Church in Mirfield.

The top accolades went to Eliza Bell who won The Teacher’s Cup and the Most-Improved Student was Aimee Hinchliffe, who received the Wellhouse Moravian Church Cup.

The dance school was establishe­d almost 20 years ago by Katie Philpott who wanted to share her passion for dance with her local community.

The school has more than 350 students aged from three upwards, more than 75 classes and is looking forward to its next main show which will be staged at the Lawrence Batley Theatre, in Huddersfie­ld, in March 2020.

The school has studios at the Wellhouse Moravian and Zion Baptist Church, and prides itself on a family ethos with classes that allow students of all ages to dance for fun and fitness and also take part in ISTD dance qualificat­ions.
