A PARTIALLY clothed woman was arrested for her drunken antics in Fixby – then spat in the face of a police officer.

Leanne Rawlinson was seen screaming and pushing over a wheelie bin in the road.

The 36-year-old was so drunk she remembered nothing before waking up in her police cell the next day.

Her solicitor said that she was disgusted by her behaviour and is now seeking help for her issues.

Rawlinson pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in public and assault by beating of an emergency worker.

Prosecutor Alex Bozman said that police were called to Netheroyd Hill Road shortly before 1am on September 9.

He told Kirklees magistrates: “There was a female on the street, banging on doors and shouting and swearing.

“She pushed over a wheelie bin and was in a state of partial undress, unsteady on her feet and slurring her speech.”

Rawlinson was spoken to by the officers and insisted that she had not been banging on doors.

She was handcuffed and taken to the police vehicle where she screamed and shouted as she was transported to custody.

She was taken to Huddersfield Police Station and a female officer entered her cell with her.

Mr Bozman said: “She turned round and spat at the PC, which landed partially on the officer’s shirt and partially on her face.”

In interview Rawlinson couldn’t recall being in a state of undress or police attending, but accepted that she had no lawful excuse to spit at the officer.

In May last year a district judge branded her ‘Mrs Jekyll and Hyde’ after she drunkenly decimated a stranger’s garden and threatened to stab a police woman in the head.

Rawlinson yanked a trellis and hanging baskets from the victim’s property and then assaulted the police officer, calling her a ‘dirty tramp’ and threatening to kill her as she was taken into custody.

She pleaded guilty to criminal damage, assaulting a constable in the execution of her duty and threatening behaviour.

Prior to that incident Rawlinson, of Cowcliffe Hill Road in Cowcliffe, had four convictions for assaulting a police officer.

District Judge Michael Fanning heard she had an issue with alcohol, commenting that she became ‘Mrs Jekyll and Hyde’ when she had a drink.

Mohammed Younis, mitigating, said that she has a long-standing issue with alcohol but has now reduced her intake in a bid to address her offending behaviour.

He told magistrates: “She has no recollection of how she came to be arrested and no recollection until she woke up in the police station the following morning.

“She’d suffered a bereavement some weeks earlier and been drinking.

“It’s clearly had an impact on her offending behaviour.

“She’s disgusted for her behaviour and deeply remorseful of that way she’s behaved.”

Magistrates ordered a pre-sentence report ahead of Rawlinson’s sentencing on October 17.
