Game How well can top chefs recreate some of the nation’s favourite snacks?

-

CRUNCHY wafer fingers, slathered in smooth chocolate, that infamous snap. It can only be one thing – a KitKat. Fred Sirieux hosts this new series that sees top chefs do battle to recreate a popular British snack. The result is a bit like a mash-up of Inside The Factory and MasterChef: The Professionals.

While Michelin-starred cooks employ trial and error to perfect the chocolatey confection, comedian Jayde Adams dons a hair net to investigate how it’s really done.

The series reels us in with this absolute favourite – KitKats have been around since 1935 and 540 bars are eaten every second.

Fred is excited – you’ll have to ignore the horrifying sight of him breaking a four finger KitKat in half across the middle, rather than length-ways.

Someone really should tell him how it’s done.

He couriers a huge box of the bars to chefs Daniel Clifford and Vivek Singh.

Their challenge is to make the perfect replica, with some top bods from the KitKat company ultimately deciding who wins.

We watch the contestants try to crack the secrets of the snack, from the precise layers to the lettering on top and getting the perfect snap.

Meanwhile, someone at the KitKat factory laughs that they’ll never know they use yeast, not egg whites – ho, ho, what fools.

There are a lot of fun facts here and Fred does his best to build the tension. But with nothing at stake, you won’t really care who wins.

Mostly, you’ll just want a KitKat. Go on, have a break.
