Terriers duo return ‘very soon’

the club. Simpson agrees that being able to talk to these people gave him a better understanding of not just the club but the town itself.

He said: “I have played here a few times and I was talking to the lads. I remember when Town came up to the Premier League. It was one of their games against Leicester and they battered us to be honest, but we drew 1-1.

“I know Danny Williams, I know Ben Hamer came here last year. I have known Fraizer Campbell since we were kids. I know he’s only been here a little while but he is from Huddersfield so, yes, I know about the club.

“They were in the Premier League last year and things didn’t work out but we are now where we are. I am here to help us get us up the table.

■DANNY Cowley rates Reece Brown highly but has explained why the attacking midfielder has yet to feature for Town in the Championship.

The former Birmingham City starlet, who returned to top form in Forest Green Rovers’ play-off side last season, has played only in the Carabao Cup against Lincoln.

“Reece is a boy we know well, having had a very good time at Forest Green,” said Cowley. “We played against him over the last two years and, particularly last year, he had a very good season as a No8 or a No10.

“He certainly had some creativity and some guile and he has got good quality in the final third when it comes to assisting and scoring goals. For Reece, he is PW D L F A Pts

“It’s a good club, and you see the fans, if they see people giving 100 per cent then they are happy.

“Everyone knows you want to win games. However you could see that they were cheering every tackle and in this moment that’s what you need.”

Simpson, who is hoping to be in the side for tonight’s visit to Stoke City in the Championship, is up for the battles going forward and said: “I’ve come in, we are at the bottom of the league and I like a challenge.

“I want to be part of a team where people say they were at the bottom of the league but now look where they are.

“I just want to now get more 90 minutes and get fitter and fitter. There was times where I was a bit frustrated with myself because I know what I can do.” trying to get into a place where he can cope with the athleticism and physicality of the Championship and that is something we are working hard on with him.

“But certainly in terms of his technical quality he has a lot to offer and we will work hard with him on trying to add those other aspects to his game.” DANNY Cowley has issued an injury update ahead of the crucial Championship trip to Stoke City.

Terence Kongolo missed Saturday’s 1-1 draw because of the calf injury which forced him off in the previous match at West Brom, so Jaden Brown played left-back, while Danny Simpson made his debut at right-back.

Missing out entirely was No.10 Alex Pritchard, who has still not recovered from a knee injury.

On Kongolo and Pritchard, Cowley explained: “We would hope that both of them will be back very, very soon.

“That’s what we are hopeful for. They are key players.

“You have to remember we have Kamil (Grabara) who is a young goalkeeper, Jaden Brown who is new to senior football and Lewis O’Brien who is just covering every blade of grass. He pretty much played like two players for 60-odd minutes until he ran out of legs.

“So we have quite a lot of young players in the group, and the experienced players are helping them – and are in a much better place to help them.

“And I think for us, we have some really experienced boys who really care – this experience has really hurt them – and we are just trying to free them up of that.”
