when Cameron Carter-Vickers crossed from the right and an unmarked Joe Allen - Stoke’s most industrious player - headed over from eight yards.

The travelling Town fans made a determined effort, as the players left the pitch at half time, to remind their team to up things, because the game was there for the taking. It was Stoke who started the second half more brightly, however, and Carter-Vickers sent a blistering 20-yard drive just over Kamil Grabara’s bar.

Town’s 922 travelling fans did their best to lift the team again, but the quality of the game on the hour mark was dire.

At that point, Town replaced Fraizer Campbell with Isaac Mbenza and pushed Grant down the middle, with Stoke having sent on Tyrese Campbell for Ince. Gregory flicked an effort wide, following a rare mis-placed pass from To w n ’s bes t player Schindler, and was taken off as Stoke boss Jones went for Nick Powell as an option for the final nine minutes

It was Town, however, who struck the decisive blow. Diakhaby found space on the right and powered towards the box. When he looked up, Bacuna was racing into the box and a

Heartfelt celebrations followed, while Stoke’s fans headed for the exits. MANCHESTER City product Demeaco Duhaney has been on the injured list at Town but has still massively impressed new manager Danny Cowley.

The 20-year-old right-back – who was once on the bench for Pep Guardiola in a Champions League tie and is an England Under-20 cap – is back to fitness after a bad ankle injury.

He is training with the first-team again under Cowley but was not under consideration for last night’s Championship trip to Stoke City.

Instead, the player who made his Premier League debut against Wolves last season played for the Elite Development Team against Shrewsbury.

And Cowley revealed he is keen to get Duhaney out on loan before January, which would mean a stint in the National League to build match fitness and strength.

“With Demeaco, now Danny Simpson has come in, it would be good to get him out on loan to January,” confirmed Cowley.

“Duhaney is a really talented kid, let me tell you.

“He is about as talented as I’ve seen in terms of his ability to receive, front face and play through – I’ve been really impressed.

“I don’t drink alcohol but my dad would say it’s like pouring a fine glass of red wine watching him move and play.

“He has a real je ne sais quoi and is really talented.

“But for all our young players we have to give them the right stepping stones because from where they are to the Championship is just such a big gap.

“I really believe, coming from the lower leagues – and I know how tough they are and the resilience, determination and grit you have to have to get out of them – that playing there can be valuable.

“We are going to expose some of our younger players to that pathway because we firmly believe they are the right stepping stones for them to get to where we would like them to get to.” He has a real je ne sais quoi and is really talented. It would be good to get him
