Shelley fall to league leaders
DESPITE the weather decimating the fixture list, there were several notable performances in the Huddersfield and District AFL last Saturday.
Honley stay top after a 2-0 win at Shelley, while Berry Brow moved up to second with a 4-3 win at Skelmanthorpe.
Oakes (two), Brennan and Shooter scored for the Brow while Billy (two) and Calvert netted for Skelmanthorpe.
In Division 2, leaders AFC Lindley were held to a 1-1 draw by Lepton. Almondbury Woolpack moved up to third with a 5-3 win at Shelley. Woolpack’s goals came from Allert (three) and Price (two). Sutcliffe (two) and Parker replied for Shelley.
Meltham stay top of Division 3 despite losing 3-2 to Huddersfield YMCA. Scissett moved up to second with a 3-3 draw with Dewsbury Town. Deighton got hammered at home by Kirkburton 9-2. Pusey and Waddington scored for the home team while Coleman (four), Toulcher (two), Willans (two) and Crowther scored for Kirkburton.
Brook Motors moved off the bottom of the table in a 3-1 win over Hade Edge. Turner, Wood and Graham scored for Brooks while Dos Santos scored for Hade Edge.
In Division 4, Flockton stay top in a closely fought 2-1 win away at Cleckheaton with goals from Conway and Dobson.
Braithwaite, Nichols, Dan Smith and Ryan Smith ensured that Wooldales centenary celebrations got off to a winning start in a 4-0 win away at Mount.
Dalton Dynamos stay top of Reserve Division 2 with an 8-2 hammering of Deighton, Lewis and Simpson scoring for Deighton and Jackson (four), Carter (two), Theodorou and Osbourne scoring for the Dynamos.
Kirkburton stay top of Reserve Division 4 in a 7-2 win over Honley with goals from Goring (four), Rammell, Manning and Dunstan.
Honley’s goals were scored by Mellotte and Murphy. Deighton A also went the way of their other teams losing 7-3 to Marsh Athletic. Marsh’s goals came from Wells (three), Tiplady (two), Hamlet and Quinn. Deighton goals came from Kilburn (two) and Taylor.
