Seven heaven but Dan’s still facing a battle
DANNY Cowley admits the job at Huddersfield Town is bigger than he anticipated - but he’s confident of turning the club around.
The new manager is in the middle of this international break having had five matches at the helm since joining from Lincoln City.
The first two were defeats to Sheffield Wednesday and West Brom, at which point Town had won just one of 35 matches in all competitions.
But Cowley halted a run of seven straight defeats with a
1-1 draw against Millwall and has followed up with two moraleboosting victories against Stoke City and Hull City which have renewed belief among players and supporters alike.
The new manager is delighted with that seven-point haul from nine, especially as it’s lifted at least a little of the gloom and despondency which has been hanging over the club for the last 12 months.
“I feel like I have lived some of it, because I saw where the club was,” said Cowley, who is planning a behind-closed-doors match tomorrow for the players not on international duty.
“It surprised me, where the club was and the toll it had taken on everybody, and it was a bigger job than probably we anticipated.
“It’s still a bigger job than I anticipated, but we are enjoying it
