of the squad to work with over the two-week break.

That represents a welcome period of focus for Cowley, who started his reign at the club with a run of five games in 21 days.

He said: “Yeah, it’s been good, we’ve been able to get some good work in.

“It was a crazy first 30 days [for me and Nicky] and it gave us an opportunity to reflect and have a look at the work that we’ve done and also add to it.

“We’ve had a good couple of weeks. We’ve certainly been able to get some more information into the players, hopefully some more understanding, and some further alignment.”

He added: “We’ve been working the last two weeks on our organisation in possession and out of possession and from restarts.

“It’s been good, bearing in mind we took the job mid-season, it’s been good to have a twoweek period on the grass and we feel we’ve done some valuable work in that time.”

Asked whether he felt the timing of the break was unfortunate for Town given that they had just finally started to pick up points, Cowley took the opportunity to reflect on an excellent eight days that featured a draw against Millwall and wins against Stoke and Hull.

Those two victories that preceded the international break were Town’s first since February this year and
