Latest round-up at magistrate­s’ court

DOZENS of criminals are dealt with by magistrate­s at Kirklees every day.

Magistrate­s have the powers to jail defendants for up to six months for one offence or 12 months in total for a number of offences.

They can also hand down fines of up to £5,000.

All magistrate­s are unpaid volunteers and they only receive expenses for the work they do.

With more serious offences, they will send a defendant to Crown Court for sentencing.

Here are the latest cases from the courts. ment by calling victim from unknown numbers in Dewsbury on June 3 and committed assault on Steanard Lane, Mirfield, on July 21. Jailed for 12 weeks and ordered to pay £125 compensati­on.

Kate Elisabeth Metcalf, 44, no fixed address. Failed to comply with supervisio­n requiremen­ts after being released from jail by failing to keep in touch with supervisio­n officer and breached a restrainin­g order in Huddersfie­ld on August 13. Jailed for 8 weeks concurrent and ordered to pay a £122 surcharge.

Nicky Roberts, 32, Slead Royd, Smith House, Brighouse. Kept a vehicle which was unlicensed on Slead Royd on March 15. Fined £40, ordered to pay vehicle excise back duty of £32.50 and £85 costs.

Danielle Faye Taylor, 28, Saxton Street, Liversedge. Kept a vehicle which was unlicensed on Roberton Terrace in Gomersall on January 10, 2018. Fined £40, ordered to pay vehicle excise back duty of £7.50 and £85 costs.

Daniel Cummins, 33, no fixed address. Stole washing powder and fabric conditione­r worth £33 from JK Nice Food, Hanover Street, Dewsbury, on April 20 and possession of a class A drug, namely one wrap of crack cocaine, on High Street, Westtown, Dewsbury, on July 4. Jailed for six weeks concurrent and must pay £33 compensati­on. surcharge, £85 costs and banned from driving for 12 months.

Elvis Gruia, 23, of Queen Street, Ravensthor­pe, Dewsbury. Used threatenin­g, abusive or insulting words or behaviour in Dewsbury and possession of a bladed article in a public place, namely a kitchen knife, on April 20. Handed a 12 week concurrent sentence, suspended for 12 months, community order for unpaid work requiremen­t to carry out 150 hours within the next 12 months, ordered to pay a £115 surcharge and £85 costs.

Tobiasz Sebastian Rudzinski, 33, of Canal Street, Huddersfie­ld. Stole a Google Home Mini worth £49 belonging to Carphone Warehouse on April 4. Community order made for unpaid work requiremen­t to carry out 80 hours within the next 12 months, ordered to pay an £85 surcharge and £85 costs.

Sunny Sohail, 28, of Hammerton Road, Fartown, Huddersfie­ld. Possession of cannabis in Fartown, Huddersfie­ld, on April 2. Fined £50, ordered to pay a £30 surcharge, £85 costs and cannabis to be forfeited and destroyed.

Claire Louise Dyson, 37, of Middle Road, Westtown, Dewsbury. Committed fraud in that used a stolen bank card to gain £23.10 in Upper Batley on January 15. Discharged conditiona­lly for six months, ordered to pay £23.10 compensati­on and a £20 surcharge.

Andrew James Marshall, 53, of Meadow Croft, Bradley, Huddersfie­ld. Assaulted two police officers at Mead Croft, Bradley, Huddersfie­ld, on August 31. Fined £100 and ordered to pay a £32 surcharge.

Waqas Ahmed, 26, of Park Road, Westboroug­h, Dewsbury. Failed to stop after an accident in Dewsbury and failed to provide a specimen of breath/ blood for analysis when suspected of having committed an offence in Wakefield, on July 28. Community order made for rehabilita­tion activity requiremen­t for up to 15 days, community order made for unpaid work requiremen­t to carry out 150 hours within the next 12 months, ordered to pay a £90 surcharge, £85 costs and banned from driving for 18 months.

Sher Mohammad Ajizada, 27, of Alder Street, Fartown, Huddersfie­ld. Breached an antisocial behaviour order without reasonable excuse by entering Huddersfie­ld on September 5. Discharged conditiona­lly for six months and ordered to pay a £21 surcharge.

Dominic Joseph, 21, of Juniper Grove, Netherton, Huddersfie­ld. Possession of ecstasy on July 13. Discharged conditiona­lly for 12 months, ordered to pay a £21 surcharge and ecstasy tablets to be destroyed. ordered to pay a £30 surcharge, £85 costs and driving licence endorsed with four points.

Stewart Smith, 50, Close Hill Lane, Huddersfie­ld. Failed to give informatio­n relating to the identity of a suspect in Bradford on April 16. Fined £660, ordered to pay a £66 surcharge and £85 costs.

Rachel Louise Brook, 23, of Lawton Street, Primrose Hill, Huddersfie­ld. Committed assault in Huddersfie­ld on February 23 whilst subject to community orders for assaulting a police officer, assaulting a detention officer, using threatenin­g behaviour, racially aggravated criminal damage and possession of cannabis. Community order made for rehabilita­tion activity requiremen­t for up to 20 days and ordered to pay £100 compensati­on.

Lee Michael Breen, 33, Bentley Street, Lockwood. Damaged an iPhone to the value of £120 on Close Lane, Newsome on September 4. Fined £60, ordered to pay £120 compensati­on and £85 costs.

Callum Cleland, 18, Lavender Croft, Heckmondwi­ke. Threatened to damage windows with an axe on Lonsdale Avenue, Batley, on September 6. Community order made for rehabilita­tion activity requiremen­t for up to 15 days, unpaid work requiremen­t to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months, restrainin­g order made to last until September 23, 2020, ordered to pay a £90 surcharge and £85 costs.

Shaun Lee Hudson, 44, Oliver Gardens, Mirfield. Breached a restrainin­g order by entering the Co-op on Huddersfie­ld Road, Mirfield, on September 6, committed while subject to a conditiona­l discharge order for theft from a shop. Community order made for rehabilita­tion activity requiremen­t for up to 15 days, restrainin­g order made to last until September 23, 2020 and ordered to pay a £90 surcharge.

Yasmin Akhtar, 48, Hammond Street, Fartown. Driving without insurance on Hammond Street on January 29. Fined £120, ordered to pay a £30 surcharge and driving licence endorsed with six points.
